1946 - Alan Rickman - 2016

When I woke up on January 14th I did not think I would read that Alan Rickman passed away. The man who played many roles, I was a huge fan of just a few. While I am a Harry Potter nut, husband and I were talking about getting the dark mark as a tattoo, Rickman played in other favorite movies. The tattoo would look bad ass just saying!! Anywho, he played Hans in Die Hard, those movies are awesome, and he owned the role. So one of the best bad guy actor ever. I haven;t seen all of his movies but in tribute i would like to get through the Harry Potter movies during my quarantine (more to come...) then would like to look up his other works and watch them.

He even had bits in Family Guy that were hysterical. One of my favorite scenes (I have a picture of it to the left), when Umbridge is questioning his failure at getting the Dark Arts job. The way he says "Obviously" I just laugh so hard. I use it daily, if someone sets it up so I can 9 times out of 10 I will most definitely use it!!! Only few people actually get it so while I am standing there laughing after saying, some people just kind of look at me weird. I never planned on stopping that habit and now I will,

Always Professor
R.I.P. ALAN RICKMAN
You will be missed but remembered.
P.S. Don't forget the turtle joke for the party!!
(Fam Guy peeps will get it)

Thyroid gone and dealing....

Journal #1 (12/30/2015)
As a mother of 4, my oldest kids are my step kids and my younger kids I gave birth to, I thought hearing that my youngest child had Cerebral Palsy was devastating. When I got the results of a nodule biopsy on my thyroid my world stopped one more time. Now my back-story takes some time to go through but I want to be thorough. In 2009 I first found out I had cervical cancer; I was nineteen years old at the time. The doctor decided to freeze off the cancer cells. We just recently found that I also have cysts on my ovaries. In 2011 I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. My doctor at the time did an ultrasound, did RAI and hormonal medication (levothyroxine), knowing I had to take medication for the rest of my life I thought I was set. I was even feeling good; normal is a term I like to use.
My family endured so much when things started to go down hill. I had no appetite so I had to force myself to eat, I dropped so much weight then couldn’t get back over 100 pounds. Motivation and energy didn’t exist; I’d be exhausted but couldn’t sleep. I had no patience and small things would set me off. I had the shakes so bad I would spill stuff or drop stuff. I would sit and constantly be shaking my legs together from being anxious. You couldn’t see it but the pain in my neck was just as bad some days. I was beginning to look like a drug addict. Now my primary doctor told me “your blood work is fine, your dosage is right, some symptoms you have to deal with I can’t treat them.” I finally told him where to stick his “treatment plan.” In my area specialists are 45-60 minute drive away so finding one was difficult.
Finally, in July I found a doctor not only took my insurance but also was only 20 minutes away. My first appointment we sat down and talked about medicine dosage and blood work. She adjusted it slightly and we had to wait a few months for the new dosage to work before I got blood work. In between our first appointment and blood work, is when I first noticed the lump. I was driving to my daughter’s doctor appointment; I was having neck pain that day I didn’t think a lump would be there. I took my hand to my throat to massage it and it felt like a marble. I called my doctor as soon as I could and requested we do an ultrasound since it’s been a few years since I had one.
I went to the hospital, got the ultrasound, and went home to wait with my family. A few days passed, I was preoccupied with daily life when the phone rang. I read the caller ID and proceeded to drop the phone. “We need to see you immediately and you should bring someone with you.” I still remember the nurse’s voice, it might be imbedding into my permanent memory. I remember crying as I dialed my husband’s cell phone, I didn’t even text him to tell him I was calling so he was instantly worried and agreed to meet me there. All I can remember is her saying it was most likely papillary and it should not spread. Remember my faith in doctors well it so far gone I think it’s by Saturn. Now I wasn’t mad at my current doctor, she respected my wishes, ordered tests trying to help. At this point, and still this day just not as often, “They were supposed to be benign.” It’ll be on repeat like a record or I’ll hear it once breath and go back to life. I am a researcher so when I am told something I get on the Internet and Google. American Thyroid Association has a brochure that I found informative; “A malignant result is obtained in about 5% of biopsies and is most often due to papillary cancer, which is the most common type of thyroid cancer.” Deep down I felt I knew I had cancer either that or, I just kept telling myself so I could prepare mentally. You cannot be prepared for that, ever.
Today I am healing from my thyroidectomy, recently started my Low iodine diet, awaiting blood work and RAI. I am scared shitless (excuse the vulgar language). I hope I find some support in these groups.

I used this for some information.

Dreads

Finally starting my dread journey :)
I got them put in August 20th. I believe the count was 114-116. So I'm only a month in but my rubber bands are already breaking at the roots and starting to knot up :) so excited. I use the dread soap from dreadheadHQ
and it's awesome. I add tea tree oil if my scalp is itchy and sometimes lavender oil for scent. I also made a mist (water and lavender oil).
(I hate the front pictures)

Recently created a salt water mix too. I've read it's helps the locking process so we are going to give it a try lol.

3 month update :)

Agh!!! 4 months! (I'm a couple days late :)

Dread babies still locking up and doing their thang!! I am still so in love with them. Everyday I find a new loop or dread ball in a new or different dread. It's crazy and I am loving the journey. I am forgetful and forgot to take my 5 month picture so... what I am going to start doing is, taking a picture every 3-6 months now. I will upload my 6 month dreads tho since I forgot to do my 5 months. Also going to add some pictures of styles I tried and some with my beads in :)

Yoga ❤️

I love doing my yoga!! I'm on day #7 my favorite time and place to do it is outside at like 6am but with our weather I've been confined indoors. Hopefully the weather clears up and I can go back outside soon. I miss the smells and the energy.

I am still working on my yoga. I wish I could practice more but busy life restricts some of the time I can put in.

October 30 update::
Had surgery and still on light restriction from Doctor but he said I could start again slowly so this morning I got up and did some. Felt so good!!! So I will hopefully be doing more and more again soon.
February 2016**
Well I finally got back into my yoga. I am trying to easy into and I am going to look into local classes I think. I wish I had someone to do it with that could help guide me. Sometimes I'm not sure if I have the poses right. But here are some more recent pictures. May be same poses as above but at least they are new :)

Weddings...

Watching Ben and Jessa's wedding on 19 kids and counting, and I realize the mistakes I made. I wish I could go back to our wedding. I'm more country-redneck chick then most girls so I kind of turned away from the details and things. I wish I would have paid more attention. Cause I'm slowly realizing that was my one chance. I wish I could have made it more special and rememberable. Hired the right people and whatnot...

My advice, enjoy the day don't stress but remember if you are like me, only planning on doing this craziness once, to make it like it came from your dreams. I regret the lack of attention and whatnot I did to give my wedding. I wish I went bigger, bolder, and more organized lol.

A month later...

Where to start.. I am 22, married, full-time college student, and a full-time mother. I have two step-kids and two biological kids. I love all my children the same so I consider them my own. Their ages are 10 years old, 8 years old, 3years old, and 3 weeks old. We have two girls and two boys, we are done having kids lol, that's enough for this girl.
Our life has been pretty hectic with a new baby in the house. We are still trying to adjust. My husband works full-time so I am home with the kids most the time. Between the school load and kids I am finding myself overwhelmed and stress a lot more with the new baby. Especially with the health problems we were having with the newborn. After two weeks of being home after delivery we were back in the hospital because she got really sick. She is thankfully doing much better but has been diagnosed with heartburn and acid reflux so sleeping isn't an option much.
We love our children but I think we haven't adjusted quite yet, and my husband and I feel like we are losing each other in a way. We feel like we are drifting apart, but the nice thing about marrying my best friend is we actually can sit down and talk about it. Hopefully once we adjust and get the construction on our house done, our relationship will improve. I wouldn't be able to make it through my day if I didn't have him, he is a huge support for me I honestly didn't think I would find someone as great as him. I just need to find a way to get over this overwhelming, sad mood that I am in most of my days.
